Serious concerns have emerged following reports that UK immigration officers and police boarded a supply vessel bound for the Chagos Islands and conducted an extensive search of its contents, inspecting every box and restricting vital supplies intended for the Chagossian people.<\/h2>\n

According to eyewitness accounts, officials prevented a range of essential items from being taken ashore, including an emergency solar water maker, mosquito nets, bed linen, mobile phones, clothing, sunglasses, and even basic provisions such as an ice machine. These are not luxury goods, they are fundamental items required for health, safety, and basic human dignity.<\/h4>\n

This development raises urgent questions about the conduct and judgment of\u00a0Keir Starmer\u2019s government. At a time when tensions are already high and the rights of the Chagossian people remain unresolved, such actions risk being seen as punitive and disproportionate.<\/p>\n

Critics argue that, having faced legal setbacks, the government appears to be responding in a manner that is both heavy handed and vindictive. The decision to deploy immigration officials and police to board a civilian supply vessel and scrutinise every item destined for islanders has been described as deeply troubling.<\/p>\n

The Chagossian community, many of whom were forcibly removed from their homeland decades ago, continue to seek recognition, justice, and the right to return as British citizens. Blocking access to essential supplies only adds to their hardship and raises serious humanitarian concerns.<\/p>\n

Claire Bullivant, CEO of the\u00a0Great British PAC, said:<\/p>\n

\u201cAre they trying to make life so difficult and uncomfortable that people are effectively forced out? That is the question many will now be asking. Because when you start restricting access to essential supplies, you are not just enforcing rules, you are impacting people\u2019s ability to live with dignity.<\/p>\n
